Mail Collector
The GMX Mail Collector allows the collection of all your third party accounts' e-mails in a single mailbox. You can create a new account and edit existing accounts or delete them.

The Mail Collector collects e-mails only from the inbox of your third party mail accounts. If you have set filter rules for your third party e-mail accounts, please deactivate the filters.

  1. In the menu bar, click the tool symbol Settings.

  2. Select E-Mail > Mail Collector.

New Account

  1. Click New Account and the Mail Collector Wizard opens. Select your provider from the list and continue with step 2. If your provider is not listed, scroll all the way down, select "Other Provider" and continue with step 3.

Note: If you have a GmailTM or Yahoo® address, please make sure to activate the POP3 functionality within the respective account so the mail server can be accessed via GMX.

  2. Enter the e-mail address and the password of your third party mailbox and click Continue.

  3. Enter your POP3 server address and account data and click Continue.

  4. GMX is now checking the connection with the third party mail server.

  5. Once successfully completed, you can either Continue with the default settings or Change Setup.

  6. Select if you want your mail to remain on or to be deleted from the third party mail server after collection and if you want your e-mail to be placed in the inbox or transferred to a seperate Mail Collector folder. If applicable, mark the check boxes and click Continue.

  7. Click Finish to exit the Wizard or Setup an Additional Account.

  8. Congratulations, your Mail Collector Account has been created! Depending on your settings, mail gets transferred to the inbox or a newly generated folder.

  9. Please note: Depending on the provider, an e-mail will be sent to your third party e-mail address that the Mail Collector is going to access. Follow the instructions in that mail to verify the account.
Once your Mail Collector account has been created for hotmail.com or yahoo.com, the immediate retrieval of your mail is restricted to the most recent messages only. This is a technical precaution in order for you not to experience any decrease in the performance of your GMX Mail service. GMX will continue retrieving all your e-mails. However, depending on the size of your third party account, this process might take a while, specially if your mailbox includes thousands of e-mails or large attachments.

Delete Account

  1. Select the account you want to delete.
  2. Click Delete.

  3. Confirm with Yes. All e-mails of the account's folder are moved to Trash.
